Beta bersyukur ke hadrat ILAHI kerana dengan izin dan rahmat dari Nya juga, Beta dapat berangkat hadir untuk menyempurnakan perasmian bersempena dengan pameran “Disclosure” yang mengetengahkan hasil karya Ahmad Zakii Anwar pada petang ini.
2. It is a pleasure for me to be here this evening to open the solo exhibition of an illustrious Malaysian artist whose works can only be described as remarkable. I am delighted once again to visit this gallery and I commend Petronas for the generous investments it has made towards promoting culture and the arts in our country- particularly in providing world class venues for artists to display their creations and creativity. Your efforts serve as a nesting ground for both locals and tourists to experience the uniqueness and vibrancy of Malaysian art.
3. Ahmad Zakii Anwar is not a new face in Malaysia’s artistic community. He is a renowned artist whose works have been celebrated not only in our own country but around the world. Ahmad Zakii possesses a unique ability to translate the everyday and the ordinary into extra-ordinary works of art. With a keen eye and an almost spiritual care to detail in every line, shade and brush stroke, Ahmad Zakii’s creations are unique, clever and a pleasure to the eye. His skills are a credit to his training and discipline as a graphic designer. This is why one cannot help but notice that Ahmad Zakii is careful, meticulous and precise in the art forms he creates. And this is one of the many reasons he is part of that elite group of Malaysian artists who enjoy a good following even outside their country.
- Ahmad Zakii is not only an artist but an advocate. His works are powerful and direct, evoking viewer emotions at first glance. These are depicted in the various themes which we have the privilege to witness here today in a retrospective survey of his works. From the provocative and erotic fruit and vegetable series to the message of The Smokers Series and the serenity of The Meditations, Ahmad Zakii Anwar’s growing maturity as an artist is evident throughout in the variety of techniques used to define and determine his vision.
- Today we celebrate the work of a Malaysian artist whose paintings are an outcome of the potpourri of so many cultures and traditions we are so privileged to experience here in Malaysia. As we gather today, and walk through this gallery let us take back with us the unifying factor that these paintings reveal.
- It gives me great pleasure in declaring “Disclosure”- a collection of works by Ahmad Zakii Anwar officially open.
